Swimming Biomechanics and Injury Prevention
 
I Thought I would share this link. As a swimmer I want to understand as much as possible about swimming boimechnics in order to prevent shoulder injuries. The article doesn't specifically talk about TI but it does mention the importance of rotation and core strength (during the stroke) in minimizing shoulder injuries.

TI has helped move me to swim a lot more but I still have some bad habits so have shoulder pain.

Here is a link to an article I have referenced before, "How To Swim Faster Without Injuryhttp://www.swimsmartsa.com/How_to_To...rm_paddles.pdf" by Fred Drennan, written in 2007. It basically validates the elbow swing recovery that TI teaches. It takes a different approach to shoulder injury than the article you referenced, which seems to be more focussed on the catch and propulsive phase. Properly executing the high elbow, early vertical forearm, will also alleviate the stress in the shoulder area.

oh! this article is excellent! i was already developing rotator cuff symptoms before i fell. pt has me back to largely symptom free daily activities after a 4 year hiatus. now that i am back i can really use this.
