backstroke pull error
I find when swimming the backstroke when I pull , I pull myself under the water. How can I change my pull to pull me forward instead of under?
|
How about trying wider tracks and early vertical forearm. Often beginners use a straight arm catch in backstoke than drags them under when pulling.
|
Once you make your catch make sure you pull with the palm facing your feet. An incorrect pull with an upward motion can pull you under. A slow recovery can also make you tend to sink .

Thanks guys I will try it this evening at the pool.

My errors was pulling too close to my head, pulling with a straight hand and the last one which i am still working on is continuous pulling. When I pull with one hand I wait until the pull has completed then my other hand is now moving from my waist instead of being in the water pulling.

Why is it when I pull instead of moving in a straight line my body either tugs to the left or right depending on which hand I use to pull.

My legs do sway when I pull like a fish tail. As far as I can remember I still maintain my kick.

You could also be over rotating which could cause your legs to bend outward to compensate.Rotate just enough to clear shoulder.

I have recognized another problem. As soon as my hand enters the water I bend my elbow and pull immediately. I have read somewhere to be a bit more patient and as soon as my hand enters the water I should face my palm downwards , then move it outwards then forwards. Is this correct?
