Would a Freestyle snorkel be a good purchase?

Hello Everyone,

i notice that, in one of his videos, Terry used a freestyle snorkel so he could concentrate on a specific technique. I am planning on doing drills on Wednesdays for a couple of hours tore-ingrain my foundation but I was wanting to use a Finis Freestyle Snorkel when concentrating on technique for whole stroke (without having to get a breath). I'm not saying I want to use it every time I swim, just for my drill day (Wednesday). Thoughts and past expereince would be greatly appreciated.

Keep Swimming!

Hi Naji,

Yes! Snorkels are great and I encourage their use when learning new movement patterns that maintain good posture and balance without interrupting that process with breathing or rolling to air. Even for very experienced swimmers that already have a good breath and are not breaking posture on breathing stroke, allows them to focus on one aspect of their stroke.

Great coming from you Coach Stuart that is the kind of advice I was hoping for. Thank you!

I use them as well during training. One less thing to distract you when learning a new technique or trying to focus on a single area during practice.

I just bought one. Keep in mind that Finis make both a freestyle snorkel as well as a swimmer's snorkel. I bought the latter one.
Do some research before you decide.
