Green Zone for breaststroke?

Is there such a thing as Green Zone for breaststroke? Should I be working on fewer strokes per length before working on speed?

I'm currently very steady at 8 to 8-1/2 strokes per length and I'm 5'10".

That was for 25 yards.

I think a certain amount of work on stroke length can only be beneficial, always bearing in mind that it's the stop-start nature of breaststroke that makes it the slowest of the strokes, so too much glide is not a good thing. However a glide with the least possible resistance is a good thing to have.

I think experimentation is the way forward.

I don't believe we have set green zones for the other strokes but you can base off of your freestyle green zone.

I have found my breastroke count to be approx half of my freestyle spl and that is true for fly as well. My backstroke is about 1-2 more than free. Depending upon how fast you want to swim as you know will alter your spl. I suggest using a tempo trainer to help with your stroke to prevent to much pause at either the extension or end of the pull going into revcovery. You can use the TT set for just the extension beep or make it a faster setting and use a beep for extension and the next beep for the beginning of the pull. I found this to even out my stroke just as in freestyle.
