Total Immersion Freestyle Weekend Workshop
September 11 & 12, 2010: Jacksonville, Florida


Description:  Whether you swim for fitness, are a triathlete, or just want to learn to enjoy swimming more, this workshop is the best way to learn limitless swimming skills. You will learn how your body behaves in water and how you can use that knowledge to swim further, faster, and with less effort than you ever have before.  Focus will include learning and practicing the key principles of relaxation, buoyancy, balance, streamlining and propulsion.  Total Immersion is a transformative way of swimming and will give you the tools to continually improve your technique, training, and enjoyment of the water.  *** To attend this TI workshop, you should be able to swim at least 50 yards (two lengths in a 25 yd. pool) and be comfortable swimming in the deep end of a pool. Any swimmer who can meet this requirement is welcomed at the workshop, no matter how slow or difficult the 50 yard swim may be.
This workshop features:
• 7 hours of in-water instruction from trained TI instructor(s), 7 hours in-classroom
• Classroom discussions explaining how to practice TI for maximum benefit
• Underwater and surface video analysis following each pool session
** All students will receive a flashdrive w/ their video for post-workshop improvements

WHAT TO BRING:
For the classroom: Pad and pen for note taking.  **Pack a lunch for Saturday.  
For the pool: Please bring swim suit, goggles, water bottle and towel. We recommend that male students wear a Speedo type brief,  ‘jammers’,  or close-fitting triathlon swim shorts, rather than loose-fitting swim trunks, which can make balance in the water a challenge. **‘Kicking challenged’ swimmers may find fins helpful in achieving easy movement during the first water session.

TRANSFER / CANCELLATION POLICY: If a request to transfer is received 8 days or more prior to the workshop, a $100.00 transfer fee per person will be applied to a future workshop, and tuition fee will be applied to that workshop. NO REFUND will be issued for cancellations LESS THAN 8 days prior to the scheduled workshop unless a doctor’s note can be provided. For cancellations at least 8 days prior to the scheduled workshop, participants have the option of transferring to another workshop ($100.00 transfer fee) or a 50% refund ($250).


UNF Workshop Info
Parking

On Sat/Sun, there is no fee to park on campus.  Lot 5T is the shingle-top lot closest to use.  There is also lot 34 which is located behind the Arena (large building right next to us).  Lot 34 butts up to our deep end doors.

Signing-in
Each participant should sign in at the front desk and check under “adult rental” column.

Classroom
We have one classroom, room 109.  All guests enter through the front doors where our front desk is.  The front desk staff can direct down the hallway towards the classroom.  

Personal belongings
You (the class) can keep belongings in the classroom and ask the front desk to lock it when you are not in there.  There are lockers in the locker room.  Items cannot be left in lockers overnight; individuals should bring their own lock.
