Swimming has always been part of my life. I was a competitive swimmer from the age of 8 till I was 18yrs. My Mom was a swimming teacher and when I was 16 she had to have a major back operation and I found myself arriving home from school and jumping into the pool to take her lessons while she supervised from a deck chair. On leaving school I tried the business world for a few years but soon realised that I needed to follow my passion and I’ve been involved in teaching swimming ever since – more than 30years now. I run my own Swim School, Libra Swimming Academy in Centurion, near Pretoria in the province of Gauteng, South Africa - offering swimming lessons to all from toddlers to triathletes. I stumbled across Total Immersion on the web in 2005 and immediately signed up for a workshop with the aim of becoming a TI coach. I was amazed at what I learnt at the workshop and became totally “hooked” on TI. In July 2007 I spent a week training under Terry Laughlin at the New Paltz studio. As a Senior TI Coach I now thoroughly enjoy sharing TI at our workshops with anyone who wants to see their swimming transformed. I am qualified and registered with Swimming South Africa and in October 2007 I was one of 3 recipients of their “Instructor of the Year” award.
